Performance for the Camera // Workshop
Visiting Artist, SAIC
Material Actions // Performance Studio
Teaching Assistant, SAIC
This course investigates the ways in which material can be at the center of performance works. From sculpture to costume, found objects to designed props, natural materials to mass- produced objects, artists have interacted privately and publicly in a variety of performative forms with ‘stuff’. Materials are researched from scientific, historic, phenomenological, metaphoric, symbolic, sociologic and political perspectives. Students produce personal and collaborative pieces through a series of structured assignments in a variety of sites and settings.
